Chappel Resigns - What is the next step?

Post the world cup debacle, A number of questions have haunted Indian cricket.

As a spectator, the following points come to my mind.

1. What has happenned to the much vaunted line-up? Players like Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan who were world-class players have become bunnies by bastmen and bowlers not just internationally but also in national levels.

2. How could a team with 35,000 runs be out in 7 days from the world cup?

Personally, I feel that the chappel resignation is a good step. I dont have any issues with the processes he subscribes to. But his behaviour of using Media as a tool became disgusting after a period.

Instances where he used the Media
a) The e-mail leak about saurav ganguly
b) The text message to Rajan Bala after the world cup team selection.
c) The circulated leaks to the Media post the world cup reveiwe meeting.

Perhaps, this was not acceptable. But the fact remains that, he did raise some points which are quite genuine.

1. Sachin Tendulkar's form. -- I don't recollect the last game when sachin has scored against the big teams of International cricket. The only big team with whom sachin seems relatively comfortable is perhaps Sri Lanka.

2. The lack of a good spinner-- Let us face it we don't have a big spinner of the cricket ball today. This is an absolute tragedy. Harbhajan does not spin the ball much. I don't remember him taking wickets.

3. Loss of form of Irfan Pathan - I'm inclined to blame greg chappel for this.

Yesterday Kris srikanth was blaming the foreign coach for all the problems. I would actually say that, he should remember the pre-Joh wright phenomena. Indian cricket was a complete washout.

I VOTE FOR DAVE WHATMORE................
