Today I came across infiormation on the samsung mobile tracker. It is quite cool. The only thing is that it seems to be present on High end models.
The technology works like this:
Create two telephone numbers which you register in your mobile. If your phone is stolen, then the theif will try to replace the SIM. What will happen is that one hardware interrupt will be initiated which will send an SMS to the registrered number.
This will provide all the information about the new SIM including number,location etc.
The clincher is that this could be a final project for some student who can write a software which can be downloaded(again via a SMS) into simple mobile telephones.
